Day 23. Cricklade Wilts. Saturday 17 May 2003. A Sick State of Affairs
Vicky left this morning at 9 a.m. for her Usk trip. She offered yesterday to take me along but I said no, I preferred to stay. I would have been a hindrance really and I had plenty to keep me occupied in Cricklade.
I woke up this morning and felt most unwell and thought what is wrong with me now? First my problem in Edinburgh and now this. Things arn't going to plan.
To cut a long story short I was streaming from my nose, sneezing continually but no cough or sore throat. I took 3 Paracetemol and later a little pink pill used to relieve inflamation. I felt a little more human again and my sneezing stopped. Thinking a walk would help I walked to the Museum and immersed myself in the artifacts and other pieces.
At the museum they had very good maps of the area, many artifacts dating back to pre-Roman times, a mock-up of an Anglo-Saxon home with tools. There was WW2 memorablilea in plenty but not much on the Priory when I enquired. Never the less, it was an interesting visit
Returning, I had a sandwich for lunch and more pills. Today was the F.A. Cup Final between Arsenal and Southampton at Cardiff, I had never watched one since my young days. I switched the TV on and watched the complete run up from 12.30 p. m. to the game at 3 p.m. and then the match itself. It was raining in Cardiff so the Club closed the gigantic overhead roof to protect the pitch and players. Inspite of feeling rotten I thoroughly enjoyed game, Arsenal won 1-0.
Later I watered the glasshouse plants as I had promised Vicky. Towards dinnertime I made up a packaged Chinese meal which I had purchase during the morning. I didn't enjoy it one little bit!
Pat rang from Paris this evening and said they had arrived ok and had had been umpteen places already. I didn't mention my problem it would have only caused her to worry. The call was costly so we kept it short. I was feeling rotten, aching all over and my nose was still streaming. The tablets had worn off and I didn't want to take too many, the little pink one was very strong and I wasn't really sure how many I could take. I would wait until bedtime to take some more.
I'm afraid I was feeling dispirited and I must confess a little homesick. I hoped tomorrow I would be feeling better.
