Day 11. Oswaldtwistle. Monday 5 May 2003. A Day in Oswaldtwistle
A Bank holiday today. Just had a lazy day. John and Edith arrived at 11 a.m. and Edith made lunch for us all, a good fry up.
In the afternoon Pat and the others went to the local shops and supermarket, John and I retired to the conservatory and talked. Then Pete's friend Martin appeared so we all chatted.
In the late afternoon Anthony, Gillian, Pete and Jen along with Martin went down to the pub for a beer and said they would be back shortly. The evening wore on and they didn't return so I went to bed to read. John and Edith had gone home by this time. The story next morning was that a local off duty P.C. had taken a shine to Gillian in a small country pub they went on to. They had her trying to pronounce words in a Lancashire accent. I don't think they had heard a NZ accent before! They all had a good time.
Tomorrow we head for Kendal.
