Day 4 Cricklade, Wiltshire
Today Ian took Gillian and Anthony up to London for 3 nights and 2 days to introduce them to the delights of the big city. We stayed in Cricklade, we were worn out after yesterday and still catching up on sleep from the air trip from NZ to the UK.
We went up the main street in the afternoon, bought groceries and ordered a buttonhole for Pat... an orchid for the for the forthcoming wedding of Vicky and Ian on the coming Saturday in Usk, Wales. Vicky's family ladies were not to wear buttonholes... not sure why and I didn't like to ask, but Pat, ever the strong traditionalist elected to wear one. So we came to meet Mrs Bouquet, Cricklade's florist who after Pat's wedding story promised to have a nice bouquet to pick up on Friday.
In the afternoon there was an urgent phone call from the supplier of Vicky's wedding outfit supplier. The dress had arrived from Paris , was the size correct? We did not have a contact number for Vicky nor did we know the name of her school. Pat managed to track Vicky down via the Wiltshire Education Board and passed the urgent message to her.
Next a phone call for Ian... the car hire cheque had bounced. Problems, problems!
Peter and Joan Shilitto, Vicky's Uncle and Aunt called to ask if they came over Wednesday would that day be ok for us to meet and get acquainted? Yes, that would be fine we said. That evening we quizzed Vicky on Peter and Joan.
Pat made dinner this evening, a curry with a jar from Partek's. Vicky was home from School and shopping at 7 p.m. and we ate at 8 p.m.
A lazy day?? an interesting day and it rained most of the night.
