Day 2 Cricklade Wiltshire

Up early this morning and feeling refreshed after good night’s sleep. Breakfast over and we all headed up to nearby Cirencester for our Wedding suit fitting and a look round the shops.

Cirencester is a prosperous large town 7 miles north of Cricklade just over the border into Gloucestershire a suitable shoes to go with her hat and handbag with a good shopping centre. Pat managed to find a suitable pair of shoes to go with her hat and handbag for the forthcoming wedding.

Pat, Gillian and Vicky went shopping while Ian, Anthony and I went to the wedding shop and met Mr. Robert who was expecting us to fit us with our suits. Mr. Robert, a Londoner was a jovial man full of jokes but he knew how to turn out a smart, well-dressed man, even a round one like me.

We visited the 1200 year old local church in the town’s marketplace and saw an interesting silver cup in a glassed in nook in the wall of the Church which was given originally to Anne Bolin, one of the wife’s of Henry VIII who in turn gave it to her daughter Elizabeth later to become Queen Elizabeth I who then gave it to her Surgeon and he willed the cup to the Church were it has been ever since. It is known as the Anne Bolin Cup.

Later all 6 of us met up at a small café for coffee and relieve hunger pangs. As I quietly sat a little apart from the others their happy conversation swirled around me. I thought it was so nice to have Anthony, Gillian and Ian with Vicky, together with Pat and I… our family. I felt so proud of them all. I felt so thankful for such a nice upstanding family and my eyes felt a trifle moist.

A pleasant dinner in the evening and then into bed by 10.30p.m. And day 2 was over.
